Print Design & Web Development Reviews

Scout James is a total pro and an absolute delight to work with. He’s all about helping his clients achieve the best expression of their own vision, rather than about imposing his own vision on his clients. He’s friendly and considerate as well as having a sensitive eye for simple and timeless designs. A-plus.

Steve Silberman, author of the New York Times bestseller NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity

Scout exceeded my expectations. I needed his help taking some very rough design ideas and a preliminary logo design and creating a professional full page advertisement in a printed publication. It could not have been easy for Scout because I had no idea what I wanted and essentially threw him everything I had and said “please do something good.” What he created was beyond perfect and I received many compliments as well as new business after running the ad. Scout is both warm and professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend working with him you won’t be disappointed.

Rich Zalewski, Business Owner

I was lucky enough to live down the hall from Scout James in college, where I learned of his prodigious talent for design. I started asking him to design the posters for plays I wrote and directed; each one was intricate, thoughtful, totally outside-the-box while clearly telling the story it needed to tell. Years later, as adults, I am still writing plays and he is still a brilliant designer — and we still work together, much to my delight. Most recently, he designed the cover for the trade edition of my play “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.” His work was flawless — simple, whimsical, potent. It nearly broke the internet — or at least my Instagram account — when I posted a photo of it, and I’ve received compliments on it myriad times since its publication. I hope to collaborate with Scout as long as he’ll have me; his skills are unparalleled — as are his work ethic, professionalism and kindness.

“Scout did a beautiful job designing my professional website. He was an attentive listener as we discussed the project and customized the aesthetic and the architecture of the site precisely towards my needs and my intended audience. He delivered promptly and continues to support me when there are any issues. I’d hire him again in a heartbeat!”

Scout is fantastic! His design sense is both broad and sharp, meaning he comes up with lots of ideas, and then digs in deeply in the direction you want to go. Equally important is that he is a delight to work with—an excellent collaborator and a generous spirit. Definitely a superb choice!

Scout is a genius! I am not tech-savvy, but Scout was patient and now I can edit and add to my website. He was able to understand my vision while adding his own creativity. I highly recommend Scout!

Scout and I worked together to launch a new section of our company website. Throughout the process, he was incredibly easy to work with— always very helpful and friendly. He kept me regularly appraised of both hours spent and progress made. When necessary, we discussed alternative routes to cut time and costs and ended up with a stellar finished product in an amazingly short amount of time. I highly recommend his services. Five stars.

Scout James’s creative genius and artistic intuition are remarkably matched by his comprehensive technical abilities. Working with him to design two websites and my first book has been an unqualified pleasure. Whatever my budget was, he went beyond just branding to communicate what was beautiful and true, and have fun in the process! Scout is a treasure!

“I had put off doing a website for my business for years. But Scout James made creating a website so easy and so painless and so much fun. He was a joy to work with. And I am thrilled with what he produced. He has been so helpful and so responsive and so sensitive to what I wanted to convey. I have already recommended him to one of the largest publishers in NY. I would recommend him to any one who wants a website designed.”

Scout James is a pleasure to work with. Not only does he have great creative skill which opened my mind to new possibilities, Scout’s a fantastic listener. He helped me clarify what I really wanted to communicate in my design projects.

Editing & Writing

Scout James did a meticulous line edit on my 300-page mystery novel. He also asked me key character development questions and helped me shape my ending. He is a crucial part of my team and I already have him signed up for the next Slim Moran Mystery.
